Private Music Lessons (BHS students only) - Trimester 1

Charles Asch received his master's degree in Classical Cello from Juilliard in 2011, and completed his Doctor of Musical Arts degree at the University of Minnesota in 2017. He performs throughout the Twin Cities area, including solo cello recitals, chamber music performances, and with local orchestras, including Lyra Baroque Orchestra and MN Opera. Dr. Asch has served as lower strings faculty at the MacPhail Center for Music, the University of Wisconsin–River Falls, and at the University of Minnesota–Morris.

Anna is a recent college graduate who double majored in Music Performance and Sociology at Augsburg University where she served as their orchestra's concertmaster for two years leading up to her graduation. She has been studying violin for 12 years and has studied many other string and percussion instruments. Anna grew up and continues to reside in Monticello. She enjoys participating in different local ensembles such as Monticello Summer Strings, Buffalo Community Orchestra, and the Buffalo Community Theater.

Loren Endorf is a professional trumpet player and dedicated educator with over 10 years of teaching experience. As a performer, he can be heard regularly with the Dubuque Symphony and playing in the pit orchestra at Artistry Theatre. He has played with many orchestras including the Lacrosse Symphony Orchestra, Mankato Symphony Orchestra, and Rochester Symphony. Known for his versatility of musical styles, Loren has also worked with many of the top rock and funk bands in the Twin Cities, such as the Fabulous Armadillos and Power of 10. Equally passionate about teaching, Loren has spent the past decade guiding brass students of all ages and levels. He believes in a personal approach to each individual student, with a strong focus on fundamentals and building a positive self-image. His students have participated in MMEA Allstate, MBDA Allstate, Minnesota Youth Symphonies (MYS), Greater Twin Cities Youth Symphonies (GTCYS), as well as countless other honor bands across Minnesota. Loren holds a bachelor degree in Trumpet performance from the University of Wisconsin - Eau Claire where he studied with Robert Baca. He also studied with David Baldwin (UMN - Twin Cities). Outside of music, he enjoys playing golf and fishing in his free time.

Hello BHS percussionists and families! I am so excited and grateful for the opportunity to teach percussion lessons this year at BHS. I enjoy helping students learn and improve their skills on their instrument.
When I was in high school, I was involved in everything band and choir! I participated in band, choir, swing choir, marching band, drumline, jazz band, and pep band. I was crazy busy, but having lots of fun! Influenced by my high school music teachers, I decided to pursue a music degree and become a teacher!  
I have a Bachelor's of Arts degree in Music from Gustavus Adolphus College. After college, I taught in four different Minnesota school districts - teaching band, choir, marching band, drumline, percussion ensembles, jazz band, pep band and organizing small choir groups to perform the National Anthem at as many home sporting events as we could fit in our schedule. It was fun! But, unfortunately, with so many budget cuts in the schools, I was forced to go in a different career direction. However, I continued performing at every chance I could. I was a member of the Buffalo Community Orchestra percussion section for five+ seasons, taught piano and voice lessons, helped with beginning band camps at a neighboring school district, and currently teach percussion lessons. 

Percussion instruments for lessons will include: snare drum, mallets, and/or timpani. We will cover lesson materials - scales, rhythm reading, sight reading, and solo & ensemble prep, along with tackling any band parts you may need extra help with.

Will Samorey is known for his stylistic versatility and compelling musical storytelling. He began his musical journey at age four in the Kinder Piano program in Des Moines, Iowa. A two-year Iowa All-State musician and section principal in high school, Will was invited to serve as assistant concertmaster at the Buena Vista University Orchestra Festival and graduated from the Grammy-recognized City High School music program in Iowa City.

He earned his B.A. in Music with honors in Violin Performance from the University of Western Ontario, studying under Annette-Barbara Vogel and receiving additional instruction from respected artists including Won-Bin Yim, Yehonatan Berick, Vasile Beluska, Stacey Woolley, Jonathan Sturm, the Corigliano Quartet, and the Jupiter Quartet. At UWO, he held all principal positions in the symphony orchestra, opera, and musical theatre productions.

Will's professional experience spans chamber music, pit orchestras, and symphonies. He has performed with ensembles across the US and internationally. He currently holds tenured positions with the Sioux City Symphony Orchestra, serves as concertmaster of the Golden Valley Orchestra and Buffalo Community Orchestra, and regularly performs with orchestras throughout Iowa and Minnesota. His solo appearances include recitals throughout the major cities of the midwest, and performance of the Brahms Violin Concerto, and the second performance ever of the Butterfly Lovers Violin Concerto in Minneapolis with the Golden Valley Orchestra.

Will performs on a custom violin named the "Falcon" by famed violin maker Jennifer Becker. He also performs on one of Roger Zabinski's last made bows.

Matthew Tintes is a private voice lesson instructor, performer, and choir director. Originally hailing from Fargo, ND, Mr. Tintes is a graduate of North Dakota State University, earning a degree in Vocal Music Education. Mr. Tintes then attended the University of Wisconsin in Madison, where he studied Opera Performance and earned his Master's Degree in Vocal Performance. For 7 seasons, Mr. Tintes was part of the acclaimed men’s vocal ensemble, Cantus. While with Cantus, Tintes got to perform and tour the country, and the world, as well as record several albums, and appear on various popular radio programs such as A Prairie Home Companion, and NPR’s Tiny Desk Concerts. Since 2016 Mr. Tintes has been a private voice instructor, working with primarily high school students. In addition to his studio of over 40 students, Tintes also directs the adult choir at St. Stephen Lutheran Church, "The Hosanna Choir".

Becky Wallin, the Woodwind Lesson Teacher at Buffalo Schools, teaches clarinet, flute, oboe, saxophone and bassoon. She earned her Bachelor’s Degree in K–12 Instrumental and General Music from the University of Wisconsin–Eau Claire. During college, Becky received the Leo J. Christy Woodwind Scholarship and won a concerto competition. As a result of winning, she performed Aaron Copland’s Clarinet Concerto with the University Wind Ensemble.

Becky has more than 12 years of experience teaching 4th–12th Grade Band and K–6 General Music, as well as 8 years experience teaching private lessons. A dedicated clarinetist for more than 30 years, Becky has performed with the Northern Symphony Orchestra since 2009. In addition to her clarinet expertise, her extensive experience teaching Band has enabled her to develop strong proficiency teaching all woodwind instruments.

To provide the best possible instruction, Becky regularly practices each of the woodwind instruments she teaches. During lessons, she often demonstrates fingerings, tone production, articulation, and embouchure techniques to help students better understand and apply new concepts. Her lessons focus on preparing for competitions such as All-State Band, various Honor Bands, Band Concerts, etc. Outside of preparing for competitions, she focuses on scale study, teaching fundamentals as well as advanced techniques with a sequential approach tailored to each student.

One of Becky’s greatest joys as an educator is supporting students throughout every stage of their musical journey—from opening an instrument case for the first time to preparing for college auditions and beyond. She is passionate about woodwind education and is committed to helping students build confidence, develop strong musicianship, and achieve their musical goals.

Soprano Ariel Wilberg is a private voice instructor and ensemble director based in the Twin Cities. She earned her Bachelor of Music from the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater and her Master of Music from the University of Minnesota-Twin Cities, where she is also currently finishing her Doctor of Musical Arts. As a versatile classically trained spinto soprano, she performs a wide range of repertoire from opera and art song to musical theatre, appearing regularly around the region as a soloist and ensemble member. Currently, she serves as the Director of Worship and Music at Lord of Life Lutheran Church in Ramsey.

She brings extensive experience in private studio and ensemble teaching to her work with students. Her lessons focus on healthy vocal technique, positive reinforcement, and helping each student build confidence while exploring their own musical journey.
